Take matters into your own hands
I love working with my hands and never tire of the overwhelming sense of achievement that floods my entire being every time I stand back in awe of a project my hands have completed.
We love getting down and dirty around my house, in the early years it was budget driven and later it became stress driven. I find rolling up my sleeves and taking out my frustration on a paintbrush far more relaxing than picking up broken plates.
Some find this strange, others relate. A friend recently shared some research her company conducted among their target audience and the majority of interviewees indicated that they love to DIY as it is a major stress reliever.
So, if like me, you either DIY owing to budget or stress or maybe a bit of both, this newsletter will be a source of inspiration. In this issue we conquer concrete, test drive some drills,
go soft on curtains, heat our feet but not our pockets with underfloor heating, and finally take a steaming yet affordable 'green'
shower.

Having bought a new house, my fiancé and I decided we needed to buy new curtains before moving in. What I know about curtains is that they hang from the window and that when it gets dark you close them. I then discovered he knew just about as much as I did when the lady at Decorland asked what length the rod was we needed for the curtain rail and he promptly replied "Well half the curtain rail length is from my toes to just about here on my chest" and he points to the place on his torso, "so we will need a rail double that length".
